When someone is sent to prison, it’s usually meant to serve as a punishment for a crime that they’ve committed as well as a chance for them to rehabilitate themselves. However that may not be completely true, especially if we believe the claims of a former prison gang leader. Here’s what he said.
In a video recently posted to social media site Tiktok, a former prison gang leader spoke out about what his life was like inside prison.
He claims he was a four star general in prison and that gave him power over the prison, allegedly being the highest rank. According to him this gave him the power to command correctional officers as well as prisoners.
However the most shocking claim he made, was that he was making five hundred thousand rand a month in prison. He allegedly made his money by doing things like solicitation and prostitution.
It should be noted that this former gang leader provides no evidence for his claims, However what he says is quite interesting.
Prisoners are put in jail to keep them away from society and committing crimes, yet if this man is believed, he not only continued to commit crimes within the prison but also profited from it.
If he made five hundred thousand rand a month, that it means that over the course of a year he would have made six million rand. Which is more money than many law abiding citizens would make.
I hope that law enforcement is at least investigating this man’s claims because if it’s true, than it means that criminals have the ability to make large amounts of money in prison and possibly use that money when they get out prison.
