JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – A nurse at the Tembisa Hospital has recounted how her colleague, who was shot dead on Wednesday morning, was in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, according to the witness.
The lady was supposedly summoned out of the ward by her lover, who happens to be a police officer, when he shot her and then turned the pistol on himself.
He was taken to Milpark Hospital for treatment after being stabilized on the spot. She died at the site. On the condition of anonymity, the lady said that the victim was her closest friend with whom she had shared everything in their lives.
She said that the cop had been to the hospital before to intimidate the dead, and that this was not the first occasion. She said that, before to Wednesday’s murder, she had finally made the decision to end her relationship with her accused abuser and to begin a new chapter in her life.
It has been brought to her attention that the victim informed her about an event in which the policeman attacked her in the mall due to his outburst of anger. In a statement, police said that they were still examining whether or not there was a history of domestic violence in the relationship at this time.
Security guards should not be allowed access to guns in healthcare facilities unless they are accompanying a dangerous person like a patient or convict, said Gada. “This incident has highlighted the need to reconsider the use of firearms by law enforcement officers and the need to store guns by security in healthcare facilities,” he said.
Due to the terrible situation, Modiba stated the hospital is temporarily unable to accept the public and is redirecting calls to other hospitals.
