The other driver of the minibus was charged with overloading as he had over 25 kids on the minibus, the 13-year-old his In a whole lot of trouble with the law because he was driving without papers.
The irresponsible act :
In the early hours of this morning a fourteen year old boy stole his father’s vehicle and went on a joyride. However soon after he was responsible for the injuries of twenty three young children and had a mob of community members ready to beat him up. The teenager was driving his father’s BMW X3 when he collided into the side of a minibus taxi carrying school children.
The Children who were aged between five and elevan years old were on their way to various different schools when the accident happened. Residents from Kwamashu section L gathered at the scene and was ready to beat up the young driver. However he was taken into police custody. RUSA (Reaction Unit South Africa) were among the first to arrive on the scene and assisted the injured in anyway they could. Various different ambulance services arrived later.
This is unfortunately a very irresponsible act that could have been avoided, had the you g teenager be kept on check by his family. While no one died, the fact that a child could have, and that many other children were injured, should be enough for this teenager to be dealt the harshest punishment necessary. In my own opinion I think the parents should also stand responsible beside him, to answer for how he got a hold of the vehicle. To all the parents currently reading this I ask that you keep a close eye on your children and keep them in line.
