The disappearance of Capital Live journalist Sibusiso Asere Ndlovu and his partner, Precious Mdluli, remains shrouded in mystery more than 60 days after they were last seen. Despite extensive efforts by authorities and media organizations, no strong leads have emerged in the case.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi recently visited Ndlovu’s family in Hebron, north of Pretoria, offering government support and reassurance that law enforcement is prioritizing the investigation. During the emotional meeting, Lesufi vowed to leave “no stone unturned” in the search for answers.

“I know all kidnappings are sad, but this one is very stubborn and difficult,” Lesufi told the family. “The case is still alive, and we are working on resolving the matter.”

Ndlovu, a committee member of the National Press Club (NPC), was last seen on February 18, while Mdluli was reported missing six days later. Authorities opened a missing persons case, and a private investigator has been assisting in the search. The African Media and Communicators Forum and the NPC have also offered a R50,000 reward for information leading to the couple’s whereabouts.

However, police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk confirmed that no significant breakthroughs have been made. Colonel Mavela Masondo, provincial police spokesperson, reiterated that investigations are ongoing but progress has been slow.

The NPC described the situation as deeply troubling, stating, “It is for that reason that the African Media and Communicators Forum, together with the press club, have joined forces to support the families.”

Premier Lesufi urged the public to come forward with any information, no matter how small, that could aid the investigation. “This family deserves answers,” he said.

As the search continues, the case has drawn growing public concern, with many hoping for a resolution to bring closure to the grieving families.
