In the Limpopo village of Ha-Madodonga, a FAMILY is terrified. This after the boyfriend of their 17-year-old daughter allegedly stabbed her mother multiple times on 16 June.
As the suspect has not yet been apprehended, the eight-person family has been housed in a secure location ever since.
The mother told Daily Sun over the phone that the incident happened when her daughter returned home carrying a wheelbarrow load of clothes.
“At first I believed she came back to do laundry, but she told me that she had moved permanently back home to concentrate on her studies and would no longer be living with her boyfriend.
“My daughter fled as soon as her boyfriend entered the room before she could finish explaining. He attacked me with a knife after I confronted him, the mother claimed.
The woman was admitted to Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital after the event, after which she was transported to Polokwane Provincial Hospital, and the incident was reported to the police.
She left the hospital after four days. The suspect’s family claims that the police were negligent in not apprehending him.
“The police have let us down as a family, and this individual may strike again and carry out his threats to hurt us. We need assistance desperately, but we’re at a loss. To arrest him, the cops are hesitant. I’m quite worried about this,” the family remarked.
The incident startled and disappointed the local traditional leaders, according to Vhamusanda Vho-Ntanganedzeni Kutama.
There’s a problem here, and we’ve decided to take action to make sure the individual is detained so the family can resume their normal lives, Kutama added.
The inquiry into the matter is still ongoing, according to Colonel Malesela, Ledwaba, spokeswoman for the Limpopo police.
