Accidents happen all the time, however now that it’s the Christmas season they may happen more often. This is because more people are on the roads traveling to and from their relatives homes and vacation spots. Not to mention tourists as well as people coming to the coast from other cities. Below are some of the accidents that occurred this weekend as reported by KZN VIP Protection Services.
The first thing you’ll notice is that many of these images involve taxi’s, this is worrying because taxi’s carry more people than other vehicles. So there is a higher chance of a large number of people being injured. Because of this I would like to urge South Africans to always examine taxis before entering them. Check if they look road worthy, if there licenses are up to date and if the driver is sober.
There were also small vehicle accidents like cars and vans that should serve as a warning to South Africans to be careful when driving. First and foremost before you start a trip make sure that your car is road worthy and that all your lights work. As you go on your trip, make regular stops at petrol stations to check your oil, water, fuel and tire pressure. Finally take time to rest every couple of hours so that driving fatigue doesn’t cause you to make a mistake.
While on the road you should also watch for other drivers. If you see a vehicle move erratically or make illegal moves, slow down and try to keep a safe distance between you and the other vehicle. If you cannot get away from the vehicle, stop in a safe space like a petrol station and wait for it to pass.
