Former president Jacob Zuma who joined the ANC comrades doing door to door campaign was warmly welcomed by supporters chanting his name and ululating as he arrived in the area where they were doing their campaign.
The ANC comrades including the provincial leadership met first with Zuma at Mthonjaneni for a briefing session ahead of the door to door campaign. They are campaigning that people should vote for the ANC on 30 November.
Zuma has events lined up until next week, as several wards are requesting that he should attend and address them. This comes amid the Supreme Court of Appeal ruling which stated that Zuma’s parole was unlawful and that he should return to prison.
Democratic Alliance’s Cilliers Brink argues that they believe former president Jacob Zuma is healthy enough to go back to prison and complete his sentence following the Supreme Court of Appeal ruling.
“Zuma is not an ill man, he is dancing around and singing, enjoying life, enjoying the political crowd. Remember he was ordered to appear before the Zondo commission he simply refused, for massive damage that this individual did to South Africa. He treated the entire justice system with complete contempt and that has got criminal implications,” they said.
Zuma supporters however hit back arguing that the DA are barking at the wrong tree, and must forget that Zuma will go back to prison.
Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma said her father is not going back to prison, and is currently busy with his campaigns for the ANC ahead of the by-elections on the 30th of November.
Zuma is also going to be attending the elective conference in December as a delegate. He was elected delegate number one by Musa Dladla region which is his ANC region. After the door to door campaign, the ANC is also expected to hold a community meeting, and Zuma will address them.
