The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says it has accepted the resignation of Sihle Zikalala as Premier. Zikalala will address the media at 3pm on Friday and formally inform the people of the province and South Africa about his resignation.
Zikalala yesterday morning informed ANCKZN officials of his resignation. Over the past weekend he also held a meeting with President Ramaphosa informing him of his decision.
Looking at the three names put forward to the ANC NEC to pick Sihle Zikalala’s successor, Nomusa Dube-Ncube will effortlessly get the position. Amanda Bani-Mapena and Mbali Fraser lack cabinet experience for the NEC to take a risk and blindly parachute them to the top.
Zikalala failed to make it into thePEC elected at the ANC provincial conference last month.
He accepted nomination as an additional member of the structure on Sunday after losing the chair position to Sboniso Duma by more than 200 votes.
