ANC comrade, who is the RET champion in Kwa-Zulu Natal province Zandile Gumede is appearing in court over her corruption charges today, but her allies are arguing that this is unfair justice as they call for president Cyril Ramaphosa to also be charged.
Nkosentsha Shezi, another RET champion in the province says the eThekwini chairperson will be in court for her charges, yet president Cyril Ramaphosa who should be charged over his Phala Phala scandal is still moving around a free man.
Shezi said they demand the scrapping of Zandile Gumede’s corruption charges which he believes are not fair.
“18 July our Chairperson Cde Zandile Gumede in court yet the Phala Phala Farm thug is abusing our tax trying to cover up his crimes. We demand that the case be scrapped. Phansi ne unfair justice,” said Nkosentsha Shezi.
Critics cite that in as much as RET comrades want their leader’s case to be resolved, it cannot however be possible to scrap criminal charges because there are others who are still free.
“You can’t scrap one criminal’s case because another is still free. Of course we do want equal treatment for people, and it does not matter their status.”
Zandile Gumede’s court trial coincides with the Ramaphosa must go march happening in Durban and will be attended by Carl Niehaus and some of his comrades.
Niehaus however said after participating in the march, he will be heading to the Durban regional court to support Zandile Gumede who is appearing in court over her corruption charges emanating from the time she served as eThekwini mayor.
“After I have participated in the #RamaphosaMustGo march in Durban, I will definitely go to the Durban Regional Court to support comrade Zandile Gumede, as she continues to be persecuted by selective and politically motivated charges against her. #HandsOffZandileGumede,” said Carl Niehaus.
