The corpse was discovered behind bushes in the cemetery, according to police spokeswoman Captain Aafje Botma, who spoke to News24. “An inquest has been opened, and the cause of the teen’s death is now unknown; we are still awaiting the results of the post-mortem, which will be conducted on Tuesday or Wednesday, in order to try to determine [what] caused the death,” she said.
According to Mmaphefo Matsemela, the North West Department of Education, Human Rights Day would never be the same for the Lekhobo and Mereekae families again following the death of their 14-year-old Grade 9 kid from Vryburg Secondary School in Vryburg.
According to Matsemela, “the family indicated that the last time they saw Sedika Lekhobo Mereekae alive was when she left home in the afternoon on Saturday, March 19, 2022.” The Minister of the Environment has expressed her sympathies to the departed family.Sedika Lekhobo (Mereekae)
This might be another case of gender based violence. The South African police services needs to conduct a proper investigation to ensure that the person behind her murder is arrested.
