Although not everything was alright by the time Jacob Zuma was the South African president, there are many things that he did for this country. Zuma was voted into office by the African National Congress (ANC) at the party’s National Conference in Polokwane in December 2007, and subsequently became the ANC’s nominee for President of South Africa in the 2009 election. On May 6, 2009, he was voted into office in the Republic of South Africa, and he was formally inaugurated in the Union Buildings in Pretoria on May 9, 2009, becoming the country’s third black president.
After winning the 2014 national elections, President Jacob Zuma was sworn into office on May 24, 2014 as the 4th President of the Democratic Republic of South Africa. He was serving his second term as Head of State and Government, during which he has led efforts to free the people of South Africa from the bonds of poverty, hunger, inequality, joblessness, racism, and other forms of countless human pain and misery that had been the country’s residual face even beyond the first fair elections.
After all that, he resigned from his presidency position after there were so many corruption allegations against him. He was accused of being implicated in corruption, which included state capture. After resigning, Ramaphosa has been the president until now. Many people have been calling for Jacob Zuma to come back to politics because they think he has done way better things than Ramaphosa. Zuma was loved by many people, and even now, they still call for him to return to politics, no matter how old he is.
Following all that, there’s a trending video of Jacob Zuma with one of the most well-known Mzanzi actors. He was with Gugu Gumede. In the video, she asked him to come back and run for the presidency and his response was very unexpected. He just laughed and smiled in a way that clearly shows that coming back might be one of his plans. We all expected him to refuse since he had just stepped down, but no, he just laughed and smiled, leaving everyone with questions.

Even in the comments section, people were asking for him to run for the presidency again and many people were very suspicious of his response. Some even said his smile and silence meant more than what words could.

Opinion:
Zuma doesn’t have a chance to run for the presidency anymore. He is old and if he comes back, the step aside rule can deal with him since he still has pending corruption cases. I believe that if people still want Zuma’s leadership, they should push for Duduzane to win so that Zuma can lead through him.
