MacG’s podcast and chill, which is regarded as South Africa’s number one podcast, isn’t known for hosting interviews with politically inclined persons, but the most recent episode of the show, which aired earlier this afternoon, was not to be missed because it featured the controversial former SABC executive turned politician, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, and boy did it land.
The interview, which lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes, primarily focused on Motsoeneng’s time at the SABC and, to a lesser part, his infantile political career.
Motsoeneng’s review of the political dynamics in the country under President Cyril Ramaphosa depicted a gloomy picture.
The President’s New Dawn mantra caught stray bullets, as Motsoeneng reiterated the notion which is commonly bandied about that the president does not have the bravado and machismo to make strong decisions.
He likened him to a puppet which requires a remote control to do what needs to be done.
“You see what I have observed about President Ramaphosa, he is not a man who can make decisions, he seems like some who is being controlled by remotes from all the corners and he is in-between. Remember, he said he is coming with a new dawn, what see is new doom. This is because our people are suffering and they will continue to suffer as long as Ramaphosa is in charge. I have not seen the new dawn, it’s new Doom,” Motsoeneng said.
Although Ramaphosa has been in charge of the country for at least four years, his legacy is not easy to assess. While some may argue that he has failed to deliver on his promises, we must also remember that he inherited a lot of the mess that the state capture brigade left behind.
As a result, Hlaudi, as a politician in the business of scoring points, is most likely to paint it in a bad light.
Hlaudi was known to be allies with former President Jacob Zuma and effectively a RET proponent of note, thus one might argue that he has never been a of Ramaphosa.
Who are the haters Hlaudi Motsoeneng was talking about ?
Hlaudi says that there were specific people who never liked him (which he states is not a crime). But, they must not try to destroy his good ideas or good work. He was utterly not specific as to who he was referring to.
