Ponoza Fraser Solwandle bids an intimate farewell to his five months old son in Duncan Village, East London on Friday. The infant died after allegedly being denied any medical assistance at Empilweni Clinic.
Mother who rushed her 5 month old baby who had difficulty breathing, to a Duncan Village clinic on Sunday. She was turned away allegedly because “Sundays were reserved for patients with injuries, not babies”. The baby died on Monday morning.
“I am still in denial. This is more like a nightmare I am recovering from. If they had given my baby the medical attention he required, I would not have lost him.”
This mother says people who were in the queue at the clinic could see how sick the baby was; told her to skip the queue only for two nurses, without even touching the baby, to tell her to go to a neighbouring clinic or return on Monday.
