Johannesburg – The board at PRASA has placed Group CEO Mr Zolani Matthews on precautionary suspension. This comes after they considered a security breach & contractual obligations. A new acting CEO will be announced soon.
Zolani Matthews, who was only appointed eight months ago, has allegedly fallen out of favour with the agency’s board and Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula. His job may now be on the line as he is still on probation.
The alleged rift would come as a shock given how Prasa defended Mathews’ appointment in February amid criticism that at 64 he was too old for the position. Under Prasa’s policy the retirement age is 63.
