Khusela Diko has been reinstated as the President’s Spokesperson a year after she was suspended for the PPE corruption. Khusela and her late husband were awarded the R125 Million tender by the government when COVID-19 made its way to the country. When the news broke to the public, President Ramaphosa was pressured to suspend her as she was allowed to do outside work with the government while working for the government.
Khusela’s coming back to her position raised eyebrows because she was reinstated just a week after the murder of the PPE corruption key witness Babita Deokaran. This move wasn’t well thought of by the government because it raises so many questions. Also does this entail that there will be no further investigations now that there are no key witnesses? What if it was all part of the plan? Ramaphosa is slowly becoming the republic’s worst enemy as a lot of people want him out. Recently the hashtag #Ramaphosamustfall has been trending with many calling for his resignation. Here’s what most people had to say regarding the reinstatement of Khusela Diko:
Many people have been watching the African National Congress and its role in corruption over the period of the coronavirus pandemic. A lot of people in high positions in the African National Congress have been involved in tender scandals that have become very questionable as to how come these people are still in the ANC after such acts.
For a year, she was suspended but continued to get her pay since she had not been found guilty of anything and the investigation was still ongoing. Now it has been revealed to South Africa that she has been reinstated as the president’s spokesperson by Cyril Ramaphosa after a full year of suspension.
This then means that she’s back in her position and the whole year was like a holiday for her. South Africans are very furious at the fact that she only got away with a warning for using her political influence to feed her husband’s career. Many people are saying that the ANC is being easy on people that are corrupt within its structure and the reinstating of the president’s spokesperson is a perfect example of the fact that no one really pays for the evil that they do.
