Over the last few weeks, those within the South African football fraternity expressed concern about Veteran SABC Broadcaster Robert Marawa’s sudden absence from his MarwaWorldWide radio show simulcast on Metro FM and Radio2000, and his absence on the “twitter streets” was greatly noticed.
This led people to speculate that he could have been possibly having a health problem, because he is very vocal on football related issues and generally about the country itself.
Marawa has revealed before that he has actually suffered several heart attacks, and people would have thought he had another one.
However, Marawa released a statement on his official twitter account this evening, explaining why he had been absence from his public engagements.
The former SuperSport TV anchor, expressed gratitude that he is still alive, revealing he was unfortunately diagnosed with the Covid-19 diseason, has since been battling the disease. He said what started a mild-like symptoms turned out for the worst when doctors found that he had extensive pneumonia which required hospitalisation in ICU. He indicated that he spent 8 days in ICU before he got discharged.
Marawa further warned those who have taken the novel virus lightly, saying it vicious on the body and it is a huge battle to overcome it, and he encouraged people to be more vigilant while thanking everyone who sent their well wishes.
