The Madlanga Commission has questioned suspended MP Fadiel Adams on the sources and delays surrounding his crime intelligence complaint that triggered an IDAC investigation. Commissioners are probing whether his section 27 referral was based on credible information and whether proper procedures were followed.
Adams told the commission that roughly 90 percent of what he alleged about Crime Intelligence came from the late Major General Andre Lincoln. He said Lincoln provided him with dockets and insights that formed the basis of his complaint against senior police officials. The commission has been examining the chain of custody for these documents and whether Adams had authority to possess or share them.
Evidence leaders also questioned Adams on a ten month delay in filing his statement and on his claim that he did not receive emails from the commission. He later conceded that he had seen the emails but had forgotten to respond, saying emails are not his strongest point. The hearing continues with further cross examination on the credibility of his sources and the impact of his disclosures on national security.
This official response underscores the institutional steps taken to assess the integrity of a whistleblower complaint that led to high profile investigations. It also raises questions about how to balance transparency and accountability with the need to protect classified information. Will the commission find that Adams acted responsibly or that his testimony reveals serious breaches of protocol?
