According to former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party senior official Mzwanele Manyi, former President Jacob Zuma remains a resilient political leader whose influence continues to endure despite years of political and legal challenges.

In a statement expressing his support for Zuma, Manyi compared the former president to a seed, suggesting that repeated attempts to weaken his political standing have instead strengthened his resolve and reinforced his relevance in South African politics.

“H.E. President Zuma is like a seed. The more you try to bury him, the more he keeps rising fresher and rejuvenated,” Manyi said.

His remarks come at a time of heightened political attention surrounding Zuma, who has remained a prominent figure following recent controversies involving the MK Party and allegations relating to a reported meeting with members of the Gupta family. Those allegations remain the subject of public and political debate.

Manyi’s comments reflect the views of many Zuma supporters, who believe the former president has consistently demonstrated resilience in the face of political pressure. They argue that despite legal battles, criticism from political opponents, and internal disputes within political organisations, Zuma continues to enjoy considerable support among sections of the South African public.

According to Manyi, efforts to diminish Zuma’s political influence have had the opposite effect, helping to keep him at the centre of national political discussions. He maintained that the former president has repeatedly emerged from periods of intense scrutiny with renewed political momentum.

Since assuming a leadership role in the MK Party, Zuma has continued to play a significant role in shaping political discourse in South Africa. His activities and public statements remain closely followed by both supporters and critics, reflecting his continued prominence in the country’s political landscape.

While supporters regard Zuma as a symbol of resilience and perseverance, critics continue to question his leadership record and argue that his political legacy remains deeply contested. Nevertheless, his influence continues to generate strong reactions across the political spectrum.

Manyi’s latest comments add to the ongoing debate about Zuma’s future role in South African politics, highlighting the former president’s enduring presence in national affairs regardless of the differing opinions surrounding his legacy.
