The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is mourning the death of Tshwane Region 2 Secretary Monica Dube, who was shot and killed at her home in Wallmannsthal, Tshwane.
According to reports, armed men allegedly forced their way into Dube’s house before carrying out the attack. It is believed that the suspects dragged her out of a room where her children were at the time.
Dube was then allegedly shot in front of her family. The incident has left her loved ones, members of the EFF, and residents in the community deeply shocked.
Her death comes just three months after she survived a previous assassination attempt. In March this year, Dube was reportedly shot 11 times in a separate attack. She spent several weeks recovering in the intensive care unit before being discharged.
The latest incident has raised fresh concerns about political violence and the safety of public representatives. Community members have also expressed fear following the killing, which happened at Dube’s home.
Police have opened a murder investigation and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At this stage, no arrests have been announced, and the motive for the attack remains unclear.
The EFF has condemned the killing and called on law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible are found and prosecuted. Party members have described Dube as a committed leader who served her community with dedication.
As investigations continue, Dube’s death has once again highlighted the devastating impact violent crime has on families and communities across South Africa.
