In a significant political gathering on Sunday, former South African President Jacob Zuma joined senior party officials at the eThekwini Regional Consultative Forum, delivering a message centered on unity, grassroots engagement, and strategic renewal.

The forum, held in the eThekwini region of Durban, brought together key stakeholders, regional leaders, and party structures to assess organizational progress and align priorities ahead of upcoming political milestones. Among the notable figures in attendance were National Deployee Secretary-General Sibonelo Nomvalo and veteran political leader Willies Mchunu, both of whom addressed delegates on the importance of cohesive leadership.

Zuma, who remains an influential figure in South African politics, used his address to emphasize the need for discipline within party ranks and stronger connections with communities at the grassroots level. He highlighted the evolving political landscape in KwaZulu-Natal, urging members to remain vigilant and responsive to the concerns of ordinary citizens.

“Our strength lies in unity and our ability to listen to the people we serve,” Zuma said, reinforcing a message that resonated throughout the forum. He further called on regional leaders to intensify efforts in community outreach, particularly in areas facing socio-economic challenges.

Nomvalo echoed these sentiments, stressing the critical role of deployment strategies in ensuring effective governance and accountability. He outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening organizational structures and improving service delivery through strategic placements of skilled leaders.

Meanwhile, Mchunu focused on the importance of stability within party structures, warning against internal divisions that could weaken political influence in key regions. He urged members to prioritize collective goals over individual ambitions, noting that cohesion would be vital in maintaining electoral competitiveness.

The eThekwini Regional Consultative Forum forms part of a broader series of engagements designed to consolidate support and refine policy direction. Observers note that such gatherings are increasingly important as political parties recalibrate strategies in response to shifting voter dynamics and growing public scrutiny.

As the session concluded, delegates expressed optimism about the renewed sense of purpose conveyed by the leadership. The forum is expected to inform future policy discussions and campaign strategies as the party prepares for upcoming electoral challenges in one of South Africa’s most politically significant regions.
