Ukhozi FM presenter Bingelela Mpanza has responded defiantly to criticism over a mini-skirt she wore while hosting a maskandi music festival in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.
Social media users debated whether the outfit aligned with the conservative image often associated with the station and traditional maskandi audiences. While some called the choice inappropriate, others defended Mpanza’s right to personal expression, calling the backlash misogynistic.
Mpanza responded on Facebook, telling critics, “If what I am wearing is blinding you or stressing you, close your eyes.” She challenged anyone unhappy with her attire to buy her a longer skirt.
The 35-year-old presenter co-hosts Ukhozi FM’s Saturday maskandi show *Sigiya Ngengoma* and is also a recording artist. She has built a reputation for blending traditional radio with a bold, contemporary style.
