A Limpopo man has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting and killing his wife during a church service in March last year.
Avhapfani Eric Mundalamo, 55, was convicted by the Thohoyandou High Court for the murder of his 43-year-old wife, Patience Funanani Mbedzi.
Police said Mundalamo followed his wife to a church in Makonde Village on March 30, 2024, entered the building, and shot her in front of the congregation. He surrendered to police two days later.
The investigating officer, Constable Mmbengeni Clovis Mashamba, led the case through nearly two years of court proceedings. The court also declared Mundalamo unfit to ever possess a firearm. Provincial police have welcomed the sentence.
