Controversial businessman Brown Mogotsi has testified at the Madlanga Commission, making a series of unsubstantiated allegations against senior officials. Mogotsi claimed, without providing evidence, that KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is a CIA agent.
Mogotsi stated he traveled to Kenya to investigate this claim, allegedly under the instruction of a late ambassador. He also compared a recent police media briefing to a coup attempt. A crime researcher noted during the proceedings that informants can easily become inactive, suggesting such roles are not permanent.
The commission is investigating allegations of corruption and political interference within South Africa’s criminal justice system. These latest claims remain unverified and form part of ongoing testimony.
