The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry was rocked by explosive testimony from tender tycoon Vusimuzi “CAT” Matlala, who directly implicated suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Deputy National Commissioner Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya in a web of alleged corruption.

In a dramatic session, the public heard for the first time shocking audio recordings where Matlala detailed his financial dealings with the top officials. The allegations include:

Wedding Gift for Sibiya: Matlala claimed he gave General Sibiya R300,000 for his wedding.

Cash in a Dustbin: He further alleged he delivered R200,000 in cash to Sibiya’s office, with the money being placed inside a dustbin.

Funding Mchunu’s Campaign: Matlala testified that he funded Minister Mchunu’s ANC campaign in Cape Town through his company, Gaulatli.

According to the testimony, the relationship soured after Matlala’s South African Police Service (SAPS) contract was terminated. He then allegedly threatened to expose what he termed Mchunu’s “criminality.”

The revelations have sent shockwaves through the South African government and SAPS leadership, raising serious questions about the integrity of police contracts and political campaigns.
