Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has lavished praise on forwards Etiosa Ighodaro and Glody Lilepo following the team’s impressive progression to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking to the media, Kaze highlighted the distinct qualities both players bring to the squad. “To have a player like Ighodaro in the box, someone who is physical and strong in the air, it gives us a real advantage,” he said. “He offers a presence that can trouble defenders and create scoring opportunities in crowded situations.”

Kaze also emphasized the complementary threat posed by Lilepo. “Then you have the speed of Lilepo, which opens up completely different options for us. With his pace, we can stretch defences and exploit spaces quickly,” he added.

The co-coach’s comments underline a tactical flexibility Chiefs now enjoy. While Ighodaro offers a traditional aerial target and hold-up play, Lilepo provides the counter-attacking spark that can shift the dynamics of a game. This combination, Kaze believes, strengthens Chiefs’ attacking arsenal in both domestic and continental competitions.

Chiefs’ performance in the Confederation Cup has drawn attention to the effectiveness of blending physicality with pace upfront. Analysts have noted that having multiple attacking options not only complicates defensive planning for opponents but also allows coaches to adapt strategies mid-game, a factor Kaze clearly values.

With the group stages ahead, Chiefs will rely on the dynamic partnership of Ighodaro and Lilepo to continue their continental campaign. Kaze’s glowing assessment signals the club’s confidence in their frontline duo to make a decisive impact.
