A person posing as News24 investigative journalist Jeff Wicks attempted to contact social media personality Malcolm X via WhatsApp this week, allegedly seeking to discuss “something that might be a solution” to him and others.
The imposter suggested a secret meeting and asked Malcolm X to act as a middleman, citing family arrangements as part of the ruse.
The incident occurs amid heightened attention on the KwaZulu-Natal police controversy, in which businessman Malcolm X reportedly inserted himself.
Malcolm X claimed to have tipped off former Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya about the arrest of Katiso Molefe. Molefe is alleged to be the mastermind behind five murders, including that of Oupa John Sefoka (DJ Sumbody).
