ActionSA has dismissed 22 councillors across Gauteng municipalities for underperformance, in what party leader Herman Mashaba calls a move to “uphold accountability and excellence in governance.”
The purge affects 18 councillors in Johannesburg, two in Tshwane, and two in Ekurhuleni, following internal performance reviews. According to the party, the councillors failed to meet key targets related to service delivery, constituency work, and community engagement.
Mashaba said the decision underscores ActionSA’s commitment to performance-based leadership, stressing that “there is no room for public representatives who do not deliver”
Some of the dismissed councillors have reportedly raised concerns about fairness in the evaluation process
