Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu is celebrating a significant achievement after his office received a clean audit from the Auditor-General of South Africa for the 2024/2025 financial year.
A clean audit is the highest possible rating and means the Office of the Premier met all requirements for sound financial management and complied with all relevant laws. This outcome is rare for government departments, which are often criticized for financial mismanagement.
Premier Ndlovu said the achievement is a sign of his administration’s commitment to accountability and proves that officials are dedicated to managing public funds properly. He credited the success to his team’s relentless focus on implementing the Auditor-General’s recommendations from previous years.
For a long time, the office had received respectable “unqualified” audits, which fall short of the top clean audit status. This result marks a major improvement.
Ndlovu has made good governance a central goal of his leadership. He stated that this achievement is crucial for building public trust and has urged other government departments to follow his office’s example by tightening financial controls and following the rules.
The Premier pledged that his office would continue working hard to maintain this high standard.
