The MK Party is mourning the sudden death of one of its members, Honourable Zamathembu Nokuthula Ngcobo, a Member of Parliament in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP). Her passing was confirmed in an official statement on Saturday, leaving colleagues and the public in shock.

Ngcobo, who served as KwaZulu-Natal’s permanent delegate in the NCOP, had only recently taken office. The party described her as a “selfless and dedicated freedom fighter” committed to justice and equality.

In a statement, the MK Party said: “Comrade Ngcobo was a humble servant of the people. Her work in Parliament had just begun, and her loss is deeply felt.”

The cause of her death has not been disclosed, leading to public speculation. While the party has asked for privacy for the grieving family, some are calling for more transparency, particularly given the current political climate following the elections.

The MK Party urged caution, saying: “We request the media and the public to respect the family during this difficult time and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports.”

Ngcobo’s death is the first loss of an MK Party MP since the party joined Parliament. A memorial service is expected to be announced soon.

As political leaders and citizens share condolences, many are waiting for clarity on the circumstances surrounding her untimely passing. For now, the details remain unclear.
