MKP Limpopo Deputy Organiser Resigns, Cites Lack of Transparency and Nepotism

Ponani Makhubele has resigned as the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) Limpopo Deputy Organiser, alleging a lack of transparency and nepotism within the party.

Makhubele, who was appointed to the provincial leadership in January, officially stepped down from both her position and the party on Monday. In her resignation, she claimed the Limpopo branch operates as “one person’s show,” accusing Provincial Co-ordinator Maraga Anikie Tshilidzi of sidelining appointed members in favor of personal associates.

“There is no transparency within the organisation,” Makhubele stated. “The Provincial Co-ordinator wants to run everything, replacing appointed members with her friends.”

MKP Spokesperson Thandi Shihundla dismissed the allegations as baseless but confirmed the party had accepted Makhubele’s resignation.

“We respect her decision to leave, though we disagree with her claims,” Shihundla said.

The resignation raises questions about internal dynamics within the MKP’s Limpopo structures as the party prepares for upcoming elections.
