Two men suspected of involvement in a deadly cash-in-transit robbery in Mandeni earlier this month were shot dead today during a confrontation with police in Boksburg. The suspects, wanted in connection with the heist that left a security guard dead, were tracked down in a multi-unit operation.
A joint task force—including KZN and Gauteng police units, tactical teams, and private security firms—located the pair at a hideout. Authorities say the men opened fire on officers, prompting an exchange that left both suspects fatally wounded.
Police recovered an AK-47 rifle and a handgun at the scene. Investigations into the Mandeni robbery and the suspects’ broader criminal network remain ongoing.
