Controversial Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso is set to leave South Africa today, May 18, marking the latest chapter in his protracted legal battle. The 66-year-old preacher, who was acquitted in April 2025 on 32 charges including rape and human trafficking, faced fresh legal hurdles when immigration authorities rearrested him on May 10 for violating the Immigration Act.

The East London Magistrates Court ruled on May 13 that Omotoso could remain in the country temporarily while the High Court reviews his immigration status.
