MK Party Appoints Colleen Makhubele and Adil Nchabeleng as New MPs

In a bold move to strengthen its presence in South African politics, the MK Party has announced the appointment of Colleen Makhubele, former Johannesburg council speaker, and Adil Nchabeleng, Bapedi crown prince, as its newest Members of Parliament. The pair will be sworn in on January 28, marking a pivotal moment for the party.

Makhubele, a seasoned and sometimes controversial political figure, brings substantial experience to her new role. Her tenure as Johannesburg council speaker was marked by intense scrutiny, yet she has consistently demonstrated resilience and a dedication to public service. Joining the MK Party in August 2023, her move was widely seen as a calculated step to further her political ambitions within a party focused on radical socioeconomic reform.

In contrast, Nchabeleng enters parliament as a fresh face in politics but with a strong track record in community development and leadership. As the Bapedi crown prince, he has leveraged his expertise in project management, ICT, entrepreneurship, investment banking, and governance to spearhead initiatives aimed at uplifting communities. His appointment signals the MK Party’s strategic intention to harness his diverse skill set and influence.

The MK Party has tasked the duo with advancing its ambitious agenda, including land expropriation without compensation, youth empowerment, and energy security. These focus areas align with the party’s vision for radical socioeconomic transformation and resonate with the growing calls for systemic change in South Africa.

With the 2026 general elections on the horizon, the MK Party is positioning itself as a formidable force. The appointment of Makhubele and Nchabeleng is seen as a calculated move to fortify its ranks and appeal to a broader base.

The critical question remains: will the new MPs rise to the challenge and deliver on the party’s promises? As South Africans look to their leaders for solutions to pressing national issues, Makhubele and Nchabeleng’s performance in parliament could shape both the MK Party’s future and the nation’s trajectory. Only time will reveal their impact.
