Floyd Shivambu, who resigned from the Economic Freedom Fighters this year, has publicly commented on the recent resignation of former Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane from the same political party.

Shivambu, a former deputy president of the EFF, expressed deep admiration for Mkhwebane, praising her professionalism and commitment to principles. “Advocatev@AdvBMkhwebanevis one of the most disciplined, hard working and skilled Professionals I know. She never sacrifices principle on the altar of convenience! Viva Black Excellence!” he stated. His comments signal continued respect for Mkhwebane’s character, despite her departure from the party.

Her resignation from the EFF comes after a turbulent political period. Mkhwebane, who had joined the EFF following her controversial removal from the office of the Public Protector, was seen as a significant addition to the party’s ranks. However, her exit has raised questions about the party’s internal dynamics and the future of its leadership.

Shivambu’s own departure from the EFF this year was equally unexpected. Having been a prominent figure in the party since its inception, his resignation sent shockwaves through South African political circles. His praise for Mkhwebane, however, suggests that he remains sympathetic to those within the party who, like him, value principles over political expediency.

Mkhwebane, known for her firm stance on issues of justice and accountability during her tenure as Public Protector, had often clashed with powerful political figures, leading to her eventual removal. Her decision to join the EFF was initially seen as a move that aligned her with a party that espoused similar values of economic transformation and social justice.

As political commentators speculate about the reasons behind Mkhwebane’s resignation, Shivambu’s comments stand out as a testament to her personal integrity and professional dedication, underscoring the respect she commands even among those who have themselves left the EFF.
