Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates Set for Tough Nedbank Cup Quarter-Final Clashes

The Nedbank Cup quarter-final draw has set the stage for some exciting matchups, with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates avoiding each other but still facing challenging fixtures next month.

South Africa’s football giants—Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns—all progressed to the last eight after securing victories in the Round of 16 over the weekend. Chiefs dominated Chippa United with a commanding 3-0 win, Pirates secured a 3-1 victory over Baroka, and Sundowns comfortably defeated Mpeni Home Defenders 2-0.

Many fans were hoping for a Chiefs vs. Pirates showdown in the quarter-finals, especially after their recent league clash where Pirates edged out Chiefs thanks to a late penalty from Patrick Maswanganyi. However, the draw has kept that possibility alive for the semi-finals or even the final.

Who Will Chiefs and Pirates Face?

  • Kaizer Chiefs will travel to Cape Town to face Stellenbosch FC, a team they have already beaten twice this season.
  • Orlando Pirates will take on SuperSport United, a side they eliminated in the MTN8 quarter-finals earlier this season.

The full Nedbank Cup quarter-final draw:
✅ Durban City 🆚 Marumo Gallants
✅ Mamelodi Sundowns 🆚 Royal AM / Mil / Sekhukhune
✅ SuperSport United 🆚 Orlando Pirates
✅ Stellenbosch FC 🆚 Kaizer Chiefs

With the competition heating up, Chiefs will be aiming to end their long trophy drought, while Pirates will look to add another piece of silverware to their cabinet. Will we see a Soweto Derby in the latter stages of the tournament? Fans will be eagerly watching.
