Its the battle of the heavy weights at Lithuli House, as the African National Congress ‘s Integrity Commission, releases a report which indicates that more than 100 members of the party, should not be included on the election list. The majority of members who where red-flagged are implicated in the Zondo commission. The Integrity commission says, some of these high profile members are implicated in corruption and state capture.
The reports shows that only five of the implicated members appeared before the commission, and where cleared. About 62 where referred to disciplinary hearing. Those who found themselves sidelined by the commission include Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa, former president Jacob Zuma, former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, Deputy Human Settlement, Water and Sanitation Minister David Mahlobo, former North West premier Supra Mahumapelo. Members of parliament implicated includes Mosebenzi Zwane, Bongani Bongo and Thabang Makwetla.
The Integrity Commission led ANC veteran Rev Frank Chikane, former president Kgalema Motlanthe and other party senior members handed the report to party General Secretary Fikile Mbalula. Amongst those who where given green light is the country and party president Cyril Ramaphosa, who was implicated in the controversial Phala Phala farm saga. The party’s National chairperson Gwede Mantashe was cleared after it was found that Bosasa company installed security cameras in his home. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana was also cleared of his sexual assault case that took place in Mpumalanga in 2022.
Supricingly the name of the country ‘s vice president Paul Mashatile did not appear on the list of the commission. Former party president Jacob Zuma was flagged before he could join the newly formed MK Party. The report further advices former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize to step aside till his case involving Digital Vibes gets finalized. Sports ,Arts and Culture Minister ‘s Zizi Kodwa was sdelined for involvement with EOH executive Jehan McKay.
