After Kaizer Chiefs’ triumph at Dobsonville, Coach Johnson addressed concerns regarding racial tensions, particularly between black and coloured individuals within the club.
Chiefs Coach Johnson stated that, “We read it all the time. Kaizer Chiefs being the brand that they are, I think there are a lot of people who look to take this big brand to a lower level because in reality there is no brand that is as strong as this brand,” he remarked.
He also stated that, “So, whatever you can find and whatever you can do to try and discredit them, is always in the papers. It’s not only now. It’s been like that for a good few years.”
Coach Johnson’s comments shed light on the challenges the club faces beyond the football pitch, addressing the need for a collective effort to tackle racism and promote unity within Kaizer Chiefs. The victory on the field serves as a reminder of the team’s resilience, but it also prompts a reflection on the broader issues that require attention and resolution.
