SAPS intercepted a strange vehicle carrying 4 most wanted criminals in Benoni and they found this

Crime is a major problem in South Africa. According to the Global Peace Index, South Africa is ranked as the tenth most unsafe place in the world. Violent crime consumes as much as 19% of the country’s GDP, and the South African government has to spend close to $67 billion per annum only to contain violence. But even with all the money allocated to reducing crime in the country, South Africa is gradually growing go become more dangerous than America.

Reacting to a recent incident, Ekurhuleni Trio Task Team members, in partnership with local security guards, arrested two suspects in Benoni on Wednesday, 21 June 2023 for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and a stolen vehicle.

The members were on a routine crime prevention patrol when they received information from a local security company about a vehicle with four occupants that was wanted in connection with a crime. The members spotted the vehicle traveling towards Benoni CBD and initiated a high-speed chase. The vehicle was intercepted, and two of the suspects were arrested. The other two suspects managed to flee the scene.

Police recovered an unlicensed firearm, an imitation firearm (‘toy gun’), ammunition, and a stolen vehicle from the suspects. Further investigation is still underway. The arrests were made possible thanks to the cooperation between the Ekurhuleni Trio Task Team and local security guards. This is a clear example of how law enforcement agencies can work together to keep our communities safe.
