Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the departure of defender Siyabonga Ngezana who on Thursday completed a transfer to Romanian Lige 1 side Fotbal Club FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucharesti.

The Glamour Boys released a short statement confirming Ngezana’s departure as Arthur Zwane’s side undergo squad changes in preparation for next season.

“Kaizer Chiefs bid farewell to defender, Siyabonga Ngezana, who has signed for Romanian Lige 1 powerhouse, Fotbal Club FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucharesti,” Chiefs confirmed.

FCSB finished the 2022/23 campaign in third position and are by a large margin the best supported team in Romania with a survey conducted in June 2007 suggesting that the club accounts for approximately 42% of all Romanian football lovers.

Far greater than the teams ranked second and third, Dinamo Bucure?ti, with 12%, and Rapid Bucure?ti, with 9%.

The 26-time Romanian champions will compete in the Europa Conference League in the 2023/24 season.

An academy graduate, the 25-year-old Ngezana made 123 appearances for Chiefs with six goals and one assist since making his debut in the 2017/18 season.
