Thato Nthunya a high-ranking official in the Free State Education Department is currently being investigated by the Hawks. According to reports, the Hawks were called to investigate the sudden luxurious lifestyle of Thato Nthunya who legally earns a salary of R55,000, but owns a Mercedes Benz, a BMW, a Ford, and a Mini Cooper.
During their course of investigation, the Hawks discovered that Nthunya bought two houses worth R2.5 million each but sold one of them for R800,000. This raised suspicions about who actually bought the house and why someone would purchase a house for a government official. The Hawks are trying to find out the identity of the buyer.
The Hawks suspect that Nthunya and his younger brother, Olefile Nthunya, may be involved in a scheme together. They found out that a property in Bloemfontein, bought for R1,750,000 in 2017, was sold for R918,000 in 2021 to a company owned by Olefile called TNT Tauren Agency Pty Ltd. The Hawks are also concerned that Olefile recently won a contract for construction projects in the Free State Department of Health.
The Nthunya brothers live lavish lifestyles but have no social media presence. The Hawks are also interested in a company called Petogo Consulting, which is connected to Thato Nthunya’s wife.
The investigators want to understand more about this company and its connections. The Hawks are determined to get to the bottom of this investigation. They want to uncover any illegal activities, expose corruption, and hold those responsible accountable.
