Two Women Found Dead on Mamelodi Roadside as Police Launch Urgent Manhunt for Killers. Authorities probe execution-style murders that shocked local community.

Police in Tshwane have launched an urgent manhunt following the discovery of two young women’s bodies on Sompisi Street, Extension 17, Mamelodi East, early Sunday morning. The victims, aged 21 and 22, were found lying side by side on the roadside with fatal gunshot wounds to the head — a scene police have described as “deeply disturbing.”

According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, officers responded to a call from community members who made the grim discovery shortly after dawn. Paramedics certified both women dead at the scene. “Preliminary investigations suggest that the victims were shot at close range. We are pursuing all leads to identify those responsible,” Nevhuhulwi said.

The motive behind the killings remains unclear, but investigators are not ruling out the possibility of a targeted attack. Detectives have begun combing through surveillance footage from nearby properties and interviewing residents who might have heard or seen suspicious activity overnight.

Residents of Mamelodi East have expressed fear and outrage, calling for increased police visibility in the area. “It’s heartbreaking — these are young women whose lives were taken brutally. We need justice,” said a local community leader.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS mobile app.

As the investigation continues, authorities have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice, while families of the victims await answers in a tragedy that has once again highlighted the rising tide of violent crime against women in South Africa.
