South Africans were absolutely appalled when a video of a group of taxi drivers hitting Bolt drivers and burning down their cars was posted on social media.
Two Bolt drivers have been reportedly shot at, and their cars were burnt at Maponya Mall Soweto on Thursday evening allegedly by taxi drivers. It’s unclear at the stage what sparked the violence.
@ThulaniNdaba took to his Twitter account to break the news. He shared pictures and clips of the ordeal and left this caption, “SANTACO, you need to urgently call your members to order this unacceptable, we can’t allow taxi drivers to behave like this, vandalising, burning Uber and Bolt cars. You can see them hitting and shooting at the poor drivers. Again, what about the safety of shoppers at Maponya Mall?”
Comments:
“Also as a commuter I want to choose where I want to spend my money at, can’t be forced to take those broken taxis of theirs.”
“Unfortunately no one will go to jail for all these incidents of crime. The taxi industry has been treated with kid gloves for far too long & they believe they’re law unto themselves!”
