In Germiston, on Monday 15 May 2023, between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit made a significant arrest. Two suspects were taken into custody for being in possession of drugs, and the illegal substances were confiscated.
Acting on information provided by concerned members of the community, officers proceeded to a residence on Webber Road. There, they discovered a 40-year-old male suspect who had ninety-five small bags and five medium bags of dagga (marijuana) valued at approximately R2000.
The suspect also had R29.50 in cash. Willingly, he disclosed the whereabouts of his accomplice, leading the officers to Railway Street, where they found a 27-year-old male suspect with one white plastic bag containing dagga valued at around R800.
The suspects were promptly arrested and taken to the Germiston Police Station. They are now facing charges for possession of illegal substances and potential drug dealing. It is anticipated that they will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court in the near future.
