It ended in tears for a 24-year-old Malawian after residents of Inanda in KwaZulu-Natal gave him the beating of his life for allegedly raping a drunk woman on Monday.
Officers of the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were summoned to Spring Road in Inanda, KZN after the victim sought assistance from the community. Upon arrival, the officers were informed that the accused and the 30-year-old woman had been drinking with mutual friends the previous night.
The woman stayed at her friend’s house for the night. During the night, she was disturbed by someone fondling her and immediately identified the person as one of the individuals she had met earlier. The woman demanded the person leave before going back to sleep.
In the morning, she found her pants and underwear around her ankles and had reason to believe she had been raped. The person who had fondled her was still in the house. The woman called for help, and residents from the area came to her aid. They violently attacked the accused and threatened to kill him for his alleged crimes.
According to recent reports, both the accused and the victims have been handled over to the SAPS for further investigation.
