The explosion of a fuel tanker in Boksburg, south of Johannesburg, on Saturday morning caused fatalities and serious injuries.
Emer-G-Med paramedics and representatives from other emergency service organizations are currently on the scene on Railway Street in Boksburg, according to a statement from Emer-G-Med Kyle van Reenen.
According to reports from the area, a fuel truck detonated. At this time, we can report that several persons have died and a number of others have significant injuries.
Unconfirmed sources state the truck is owned by LP Gas and that it scraped its top as it passed beneath a low-lying bridge.
The explosion is depicted in videos posted on social media and shared by Emer-G-Med as some locals urgently try to avoid it while others get out their phones to record it.
