They always say numbers don’t lie when it comes to politics, but it seems like at NASREC they did. We were all convinced that Zweli Mkhize was going to win against Ramaphosa because he had so many people pushing him, and on the other side, many people were turning against Ramaphosa. Although you might think they are saying it out of anger and bitterness, those people who are saying Ramaphosa didn’t win fair and square might be right after all.
Yesterday there was a trending video of people walking out of the meeting when Ramaphosa started speaking. That video left people asking themselves, “If so many people don’t want to listen to him, then how did he win and who voted for him?” Following all that, someone decided to expose some WhatsApp conversations where it looked like votes were being bought.
On the screenshots, a delegate is told that they will be given R 15 million before the conference and the remaining balance will be brought after the votes. On another screenshot, a lady by the name of Palesa Motshoe was busy sending delegates messages telling people who to vote for and said she was sent by Ramaphosa. In conclusion, she ended by saying if you scratch my back, I will scratch yours too. After these screenshots were exposed, people seem to be believing that it’s true that Ramaphosa bought votes.
In other news, Carl Niehaise, the suspended member of the ANC, claims that Ramaphosa is killing the ANC. He said this after a viral video of him addressing the closing event of the national congress. On the video, Ramaphosa was addressing only a few people after all the delegates had left a moment before he started addressing. Looking at all these, I believe that Ramaphosa bought the votes; he looked so desperate for power in a way that he’d do everything to get a second term.
