It seems like people have lost hope in the South African police service because every time there is a crime scene, they don’t wait for them to come; instead, they deal with criminals in their own way. Although mob justice is an offense, community members are resorting to it to fight crime, and it’s really working. In the past few months, there have been a couple of reported cases of people who were killed by an angry community after they committed a crime.
Following that, there is another heartbreaking story of a man who got killed by an angry community after he commuted crime with his friends, according to the reports. After being suspected of robbing a residence in Zone 4, the three men were hauled away from that area. It is asserted that they broke into and entered two separate rooms in the same yard, from which they stole a mobile phone and R900 in cash from one room, and from the next room, which they were unable to enter, they shot the person while she was attempting to balance her door as the perpetrators were forcefully gaining entry. Both rooms were located in the same yard.
The victim, who had been shot, was rushed to Tembisa Hospital in a severe condition after the incident. As soon as people in the neighborhood heard the victims’ shouts, they rushed outside in large groups, surrounded the three perpetrators, and began attacking them while pulling them to the “braai stand,” which is what the locals refer to as the ground.
The police were able to save two of the suspects, who were then transferred to Tembisa Hospital under police guard, while the third suspect was unable to survive his injuries and passed away at the scene. After this was posted on social media, people praised these community members for dealing with criminals and showed no sympathy for the lives lost, showing that they are really tired of crime. People are being warned to refrain from mob justice because it is against the law.
