She was convicted and sentenced to jail for the brutal murder of rapper and musician Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi of Skwatta Kamp fame back in 2016.
Six years later, Sindisiwe Manqele has for the first time spoken out in public about the ordeal that saw her end the life of her then-lover Flabba.
After being released on parole in May this year for the rapper’s murder, Manqele has since shown her face in public for the first time.
She was sentenced by Judge Solly Sithole at the High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court and has been serving her sentence at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre, better known as Sun City.
The music industry was rocked by Flabba’s death at the time, labeling Manqele as a murderer, though she has now since given her side of the story saying she had killed him ‘by mistake’ when she plunged the knife into his chest with a single blow at his Alexandra house.
Manqele appeared on the Podcast and Chill with MacG which was released on Tuesday, October 10, to share some of her story.
“That night, we were drunk and tempers were high, we had gone out and got intoxicated and there was a bit of jealousy from his side.
“It escalated and things were said and ended up taking the wrong turn,” she recalled.
“I stabbed him [on] the chest, once.” she said.
“I wouldn’t want to kill him.”
Sindisiwe said she was at peace with herself because he (Flabba) had forgiven her shortly before he took his last breath.
“(I was) definitely (forgiven) by him, because we spoke before he passed away.
“I knew that he knew that I didn’t mean to do it.
“He was alive for like an hour but the ambulance took long to come.
“I wish I didn’t go to that party, I was supposed to be with his mom. If I didn’t go to that party, this wouldn’t have happened,” she said.
