According to a DA member, Mpho Phalatse didn’t enjoy the support of the DA federal council.
Based on social media posts & certain literature, it’s clear Mpho Phalatse didn’t enjoy DA Federal council political support & was left to fend for self.
You should surround yourself with smart, agile political and legal advisors.
Mpho Phalatse didn’t enjoy DA Federal council political support. In fact, she was left to fend for herself in the courts system. She did not have the DA Federal council political support necessary to wage a litigation attempt/demise against Helen Zille who is an accomplished litigator and seemingly has a lot of money.
She was a well-known name until she was ‘ousted’ from her position as chief whip of the Johannesburg council last year. The DA Federal Council did not support her when she tried to sue the party for R10 million and her membership was suspended indefinitely.
The legal proceedings dragged on for months and ended with Phalatse having to pay over R1 million in costs to the DA while also losing all credibility within the party.
But in the Democratic Alliance (DA) party head office, she used to be a well-known name until she was ‘ousted’ from her position as chief whip of the Johannesburg council last year.
A former DA councillor and ANC member who worked with Phalatse at Johannesburg City Hall, Ntombi Thwala said: “I think Mpho was treated unfairly when she was removed from her position as chief whip in Johannesburg. She did not deserve it because she had no case against her.”
Phalatse was also a member of the DA federal council and lost her position on that body to Jonathan Moakes. She also lost her position as chief whip of the Johannesburg council.
A former colleague of Mpho Phalatse says she didn’t enjoy the support of her party’s federal council.
A source, who wishes to remain anonymous, says it was clear that Mpho Phalatse’s relationship with the federal council was strained before her removal from her chief whip position and that she had clashed with members before.
The source says they were surprised by the decision to move her out of this role because they believed she was doing a good job and had been loyal to the party since its inception.
Based on social media posts & certain literature, it’s clear Mpho Phalatse didn’t enjoy DA Federal council political support & was left to fend for self.
Seems she also didn’t surround self w/ smart, agile political & legal advisors hence her ill-fated litigation attempt/demise.
