Live Stream 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final between Banyana Banyana and Zambia.
It has turned out to be a fairy-tale affair for Banyana Banyana in Morocco as their journey continues this evening against Zambia.
With their FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification in the bag, Banyana now move on to their next objective: securing a passage to the Women’s Afcon final.
In their opening match was against rivals Nigeria and Banyana put in a hard-fought performance to clinch a 2-1 victory.
Three days later, complacency kicked in against lowly-ranked Burundi, but Banyana ensured a 3-1 win in the end, despite an underwhelming performance that secured their path to the quarter-finals.
Their final Group C match against Botswana was bittersweet.
Nthabiseng Ronisha Majiya netted from close range in the 80th minute to claim a 1-0 victory for Banyana and ensure Ellis’ charges end top of Group C, with nine points.
But, on the hour mark, star forward Thembi Kgatlana was stretchered off – and, a day later, Banyana Banyana confirmed that she had torn her Achilles and was ruled out for the rest of Women’s Afcon.
A slender 1-0 win against Tunisia in the quarter-final ensured they will be at next year’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia, while setting up a mouth-watering encounter against Zambia in the Women’s Afcon semis.
Much like South Africa, Zambia are also undefeated at Afcon winning three matches and drawing one.
A goalless draw in their opening Group A match against Cameroon was followed by a 1-0 win against Tunisia and handed out a 4-1 thrashing to Togo.
In the quarter-finals, Zambia came from a goal down to take their match against Senegal to a penalty shootout, which they won 4-2 to set up their semi against Banyana.
Banyana travelled to Zambia an international friendly earlier this year in February with South Africa falling 3-0 to the hands of the hosts.
